While discussing the idea of creating a delicious brain food that would contain brain nutrients, I jokingly thought of a take on edibles, the CBD/THC laced bakery items and confections that many people rave about. I’ve never tried one myself, but love the idea of having a brain food that not only tastes good but one that also enhances well-being. My business partner, Don Davis – Board Certified Chiropractic Neurologist, and I began the search for ideal ingredients, dosages and next, what to mix the ingredients with.
Nootropics are chemicals that are known as smart drugs and cognitive enhancers. These drugs, supplements, and other substances improve cognitive function, particularly executive functions, memory, creativity, or motivation, in otherwise healthy individuals. In our organization, we are using only natural substances with low or no-known interactions and substances are first reviewed through the Natural Medicine Database.
Nootropic Ingredients of this Amazing Brain Food
Don selected the following ingredients for the initial product trial:
Rhodiola – a flowering plant that increases memory, focus, energy, motivation and supports neurotransmitters.
Bacopa – an herb often used in Ayurveda, shown to improve cognition, memory and reduce anxiety.
L-theanine – an amino acid used for reducing anxiety and stress, preventing Alzheimer’s disease, treating attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and improving cognitive performance.
Lion’s Mane – a mushroom that increases growth factors in the brain (BDNF) and decreases inflammation and anxiety.
These amazing nootropic foods are mixed into a delightful candy that has organic cocoa, MCT oil (brain octane!), nut butter and nut meal – a low glycemic, delicious treat.
